Data from the Global Volcanism Program of the Smithsonian Institution
Details for: Milbanke Sound Group
Milbanke Sound lies in the center of this NASA Space Shuttle image (with north to the upper right). Swindle, Lake, and Lady Douglas Islands in the Milbanke Sound area of the Fiord Ranges in west-central British Columbia contain cinder cones of Holocene age. The most prominent feature is Kitasu Hill, a 180-m-high cinder cone on western Swindle Island. Basaltic tuff breccias occur on Lake Island and Lady Douglas Island, and lava flows from 20-km-long Price Island overlie adjacent beach deposits.
